Just Don't Drop It

Ever wonder if a 94.5-inch long bike will fit in a 61.1-inch midget truck-bed?  Turns out it’s kinda’ like the old 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag. After you figure out all the geometry stuff, it does works pretty good for a one-man operation. All you have to do is ignore the legs bending and the thought that the cheap-ass hyd cylinder could blow at any time and it works fine. The truck told me it wants a set of air shocks for its birthday.

Don't know about fitting bikes into truck beds, but that first picture gave me heart palpitations. Bikes were not made to be hung in the air like bananas.

This adds a whole new meaning to having a bike up your ass.

Just wondering. Is that a 5 ft. truck bed? Was thinking of Fla. this winter. New truck has a 5 ft bed.

Webster: Nope. It’s 5’ 1.1”. Lets not cut it short :)

If you blow-up the pictures you can see what I added. Tire chock in the bed, I made a set of extra support cables for the tailgate and a 3/16 steel plate under the rear tire to spread the load and not bend the gate. I just hauled it 500 miles with no problems. The truck got air shocks after the trip so they’ll help the next time. But even without the air it handled just fine.

Or was it simply that your power stearing went bad so you lightened the front end.

Wow, you are brave to even think about suspending your bike like that…

Just like Ayasha said, i think its hazardous to leave those bikes hanging like that. just to be on the safe side and to to reduce the chances of an accident, look for an alternative to lift the motorcycles. Harley Motorcycle Accessories
