While We Were Sleeping

I’ve been slacking on the Blogs, but I’ve been doing research. I don’t know how many of you follow the goings-on in the fustercluck we call Congress, but I do. I think the shit has finally hit the fan. Under the guise of socialized healthcare, which is on the way, Representative Olivia Wells, D-South Dakota, has introduced House Bill 1984. The Bill has to do with removing unsafe vehicles from public roads. One of the vehicles listed is “two-wheeled vehicles of more than 25 net horsepower”. Ms. Wells reasoning is that this type of vehicle is “ dangerous and cost the taxpayer an unbearable amount due to under-insured operators”. “If the owners of such vehicles won’t take the responsibility for their medical needs, then legislation must be passed for the safety of the public”. Is she freakin’ nuts! Do you understand what she’s saying?

Now I’m pretty sure that this doesn’t have a chance in hell of passing. That doesn’t mean it’s not a first step toward more freedoms down the toilet. Understand, the insurance companies have a huge lobby and will do “anything” for a profit. I can already picture the ad campaign; “When motorcycles are outlawed, only outlaws will have motorcycles”. Sound familiar? If we don’t get off our asses and ask these people “WTF are you thinking?” then we’re screwed and deserve what we get. Have a nice day.

If it ever does have a chance of passing, I think the good Congresswoman and an axe handle are going to become well accquainted. I've been saying the Democrats are on a mission to destroy this country for a long time. I just hope enough people wake up about it in time to stop them.

Where can I read this?
I can't find this house bill anywhere. U.S. House Bill 1984 has to do with veterans. Is this a state bill?

Are you just passing this info along from someone else? It sounds suspicious to me.

Think about it...
Olivia Wells - H.G. Wells
House Bill 1984 - The book "1984"

Just a thought.

I've been doing some research, and can't find O. Wells listed as a representative of SD. I guess someone pulled a slick one. This reads like a book I read, written by K.R. Ball, called "Orwell".

Keith writes about a time in the future where the insurance companies lobbied to have motorcycles outlawed and it passed. Along with a bunch of other laws that seem to be gaining momentum now in real life. It's not fiction anymore...but...so far I think your MS. Wells and her 1984 bill are.

Ok Willy you got me. I never thought twice about looking it up or anything. Late April fools?

“Joker”: As long as the axe handle has a axe head on it and there is a tree stump nearby.
I was surprised that “you” didn’t check the facts before condemning Ms. Wells. But when you hear something this absurd coming out of DC you figure its politics as usual.
Late April fools? Not really. Lets just call it a modern day prank phone call. Relax; you can still ride, at least for another season.

“D-Day”: Either great minds think alike, or sick, twisted minds think alike. You busted me! Wells and 1984 were used on purpose. Did I make it to easy?

chessie: Yep, it’s not fiction. They just took dirt bikes away from kids. Because of lead? How much lead is used in computers and the like? What’s next on the no-no list? Watch out for all the campaign promises in 2010.

You didn't really make it too easy. It's just that on matters like this, you and I are on the same page more than you probably realize. I saw the words "Wells" and "1984" in close proximity to a story about "big brother" tactics and my internal alarm went on high alert!

It wouldn't have surprised me though. We are handing our freedoms over to the "safety police" way to easily these days.

“D-Day”: Good practice. Always trust that first gut-instinct. It’s usually correct. If it looks like shit, smells like shit and feels like shit, it’s probably a bunch of shit.

Well, yeah, ordinarily I would have. To be honest, I read it quick and as you said, what comes out of pols is so absurd I didn't give it a second thought. I'm a lot more anal about thoroughly checking my facts before I rant, as opposed to those of others. I'll be sure to read you more carefully in the future :)

Oh, and the axe handle...that's for black and blue...not red.

Be careful, fiction becomes fact sometimes. I just hope that nobody important reads this, it might give em idears.
A good piece of Hickory should never be wasted.

Wooley: We’ll get screwed one way or the other. Just hope they use KY.
